Celebrate the Crisp Sips of Fall with This Ojai Designer
Isabelle Dahlin, owner of furniture/design boutique, deKor, shares her tips for entertaining in style.
As we settle into fall, the only thing we want to do right now is sit outside, sip wine and soak up the optimal temps. But no one wants to drink alone, right?
So, we asked one of our favorite designers, L.A. + Ojai-based Isabelle Dahlin, owner of furniture/design boutique, deKor, for her tips on how to keep autumn vibes high while entertaining in style.
Growing up in Sweden, Dahlin’s design style is “very much based on the Swedish philosophy of lagom - a word that can be translated as ‘just the right amount’, ‘in balance’, or ‘perfect-simple’.”
After years working as an interior designer, she decided to bring a lifelong dream to fruition when she opened deKor Living in Echo Park near Downtown Los Angeles. deKor has been named among the “40 of the Best Home Decor Stores in America” by Architectural Digest and Dahlin’s work has been featured in Martha Stewart Living, Domaine, Architectural Digest, Sunset magazine, Better Homes and Gardens and Apartment Therapy.
As an expat, mixing styles and cultures is something that comes naturally to Dahlin. Her travels throughout Europe and Africa infuse her sense of design with an easy eclecticism.
“Anytime I think about throwing a dinner party, I get excited about incorporating colors into my tablescape. I love the blue Daily Ritual dinnerware sets paired with pink glassware. Because as we all know, the ambiance is more important than the food (though my chef/husband might not agree 😉).”
