Go(urd) All Out with a Gorgeous Greeting
“Make sure your front porch has some sort of wow factor,” says Jamieson. “I love putting lanterns outside as well as pumpkins and mums to add curb appeal.” She also dials up fall vibes through scent. “I really like lighting any of the Goop candles,” she adds. Another non-negotiable: a roaring fire. “Get a fire going and you’re set. There’s no better smell than a fire in a fireplace.”
Whip Up a Welcome Drink
“Immediately offer your guests a drink upon arrival,” says Jamieson. “It’s nice to have a carafe of a cocktail pre-batched to welcome them with!” Her go-to? A signature sip for the evening. “My husband makes a great apple cider martini in the fall, and, of course, a delicious red wine is always a good idea. I love a Brunello.”
Embrace Soup Szn
Jamieson loves to lean into seasonal flavors like pumpkin and squash when planning her fall menus. “Soups are a grounding and comforting way to bring people together,” she says. “I like to make a big pot of butternut squash soup with a touch of cinnamon and serve it in pretty bowls.” App-wise, she swears by cozy canapés like baked brie wrapped in phyllo and brown sugar. “It’s my go-to app for every party I host, and a crowd favorite.” She also serves shaved Brussels sprout salad with green apple and pan-roasted Moroccan chicken with sunchokes, carrots and lemon.
Hit the Farmer’s Market
When it comes time to dress the table, Jamieson takes her cues from bountiful farmers’ markets and from the queen of domesticity herself, Martha Stewart. “Her fall menus and tablescapes are always a 10 out of 10,” she says. Her number one tip? Use fresh, local produce like pomegranates, pumpkins or squash to add a vibrant pop of color. “I also love using more natural florals like eucalyptus or an earthy flower in a jewel tone,” she adds.
Dress to Impress
As for her foolproof fashion formula for a fall fête, Jamieson’s go-to hosting look is a little black dress with brown leather accessories: boots, belt or both. “I’m also really drawn to burgundy and camel tones in the fall,” she says.
