Pantone’s 2025 Color of the Year just dropped and it's good.
It’s the most wonderful time of the year. Time for Pantone to declare its color of the year, that is.
If you’re not familiar with this highly anticipated event, “Pantone selects a color each year that captures the global zeitgeist—the Color of the Year expresses a global mood and an attitude, reflecting collective desire in the form of a single, distinct hue.” For 2025, say hello to Mocha Mousse, a warming, brown hue imbued with richness. With the delectable qualities of chocolate and coffee, we say, “Yes please!”
According to executive director Leatrice Eiseman of the Pantone Color Institute, the color was inspired, in part, by the viral “little treat” TikTok trend that has become a common expression for creators on TikTok and Instagram. The expression is used when treating yourself to small indulgences, as a reward for doing something hard or just a little pick-me-up because, why not? More than anything, Mocha Mousse signals a moment of indulgence, which many people are in search of after what has been “an exhausting year,” Eiseman said. “We just need something — take a bite of chocolate or have that coffee to take a moment for ourselves.”
