Get In Loser, We're Going on Safari
Americans are booking wildlife-focused vacations like never before.
It turns out all those people online telling strangers to “go touch grass” might’ve had a point.
While we’ve already seen the rise of quiet-life travel and added visitor fees in a number of popular tourist destinations, taking a trip to be one with nature has never been more popular.
According to a recent study of 2,000 expected travelers across the US, more than 90% of them said they dream of taking a wildlife vacation, “mostly because they want a connection with nature… a desire also known as Biophilia.” Those same individuals are willing to rack up the miles too, with Tanzania, Malaysia and Sri Lanka seeing huge increases in visitors looking to go international to spot some wildlife.
While safaris are still very high on the list for many travelers – Rwanda, Kenya, Botswana, South Africa and Madagascar remain extremely popular destinations for wildlife tourists – whale watching and river cruises are both gaining steam as well, along with chillier excursions to Antarctica. However, for those looking to connect with nature without leaving the US, Alaska, Hawaii and Yellowstone continue to be very popular options for a bit of wild rest and relaxation.
Here are a few great safaris to consider if you're looking to get wild on your next trip:
