Taco Bell has been there, done that.

Whether facing down meaty accusations, worrying about art heists or navigating Mexican Pizza menu drama, the brand has managed to remain a fan favorite and fast food stalwart since it opened its doors in 1962. More recently, Taco Bell has worked hard to move on from its “Yo quiero Taco Bell” days into ─ stay with us here ─ an edgy, innovative brand. Architectural Digest went so far as to pen a piece coveting the restaurant's '90s design of years past.

Now, the brand is playing to the pickleball set with recently unwrapped plans for The Cantinas, an early “retirement community” designed to redefine leisure lifestyle. When Taco Bell announced The Cantinas in July, memberships sold out in three minutes.

According to the site, The Cantinas opens its doors in San Diego August 17–18  and invites guests “embracing their inner old” to indulge in a Taco Bell-fueled, sun-soaked experience filled with senior-inspired recreation and cross-generational activities like afternoon aerobics and pickleball matches.

If the Taco Bell aesthetic isn't quite your thing, there are more, ahem, subdued options that also celebrate all things south of the border.
